University of Central ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ President Tom Courtway and ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Economic Development Commission Executive Director Mike Preston will announce the establishment of the Technical Assistance Program for ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Mayors at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 at the ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ State Capitol, Second Floor Rotunda.
ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Rep. Fredrick Love, who helped to facilitate collaboration to establish the program, will also make comments.
The program will provide education and training to ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ mayors, particularly in rural areas and the Delta region, about various state and federal resources available to address affordable housing and non-housing community development needs. UCA’s Division of Outreach and Community Engagement is the principal organizer of the program. The ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Economic Development Commission is a major partner. Other partners include but are not limited to the Delta Regional Authority, ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Development and Finance Authority, ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Community Foundation, ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Northeastern College, East ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Community College and UCA’s Center for Community and Economic Development.
