Grant awarded to support History Day in ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ

Patsy Ramsey and Dr. Harry Readnour, Department of History, recently received a $41,170 grant for History Day in ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ.

History Day in ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ is supported in part by funds from the ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The program will help students in ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ learn to appreciate the discipline of history, learn how to conduct historical research and improve their writing and communication skills.

An increased understanding of history increases civic participation and improves individuals? understanding of world culture. More than 800 students, teachers and family members attend History Day state competition, and more than 5,000 students participate in History Day projects at the K-12 level annually.
