BARNES AWARDED FOR BEST LITERARY WORK IN ARKANSAS

Dr. Ken Barnes

Dr. Ken Barnes, history professor, won the Booker Worthen Literary Prize from the Central Ƶ Library System.

His book, “Anti-Catholicism in Ƶ: How Politicians, the Press, the Klan, and Religious Leaders Imagined an Enemy, 1910-1960,” was published last November by the University of Ƶ Press. In April, it received the J.G. Ragsdale Award, given by the Ƶ Historical Association, for best book about Ƶ history.

With a stipend of $2,000, it is one of the state’s most lucrative and prestigious literary prizes.

Barnes was awarded the Worthen prize at a ceremony in October.
