M93-04 – MARY JANE SCOTT COLLECTION

This collection contains the papers of Miss Mary Jane Scott, born in Vilonia, ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ on January 7, 1907.  She died on November 7, 1985.  Miss Scott was closely associated with the University of Central ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ.  She graduated from Vilonia High School, and then she studied at ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ State Teachers College, receiving an education degree in 1930.  She later took a Masters degree from the University of Minnesota and in 1960 she completed her doctorate from the University of Tennessee.

Miss Scott taught in many schools in ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ.  Her career in higher education included stints at Indiana State University, the University of ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ, and the ÒùÐÔÊÓÆµ State Teachers College where she was chairwoman of the Home Economics Department.  She was also a Home Economist in Jefferson County for a time.  Her sister, Miss Leona Scott, also taught at ASTC.
